Pregnant Women, Why Are You Working So Hard?

My deepest desire is that women feel perfectly comfortable with the idea that if they are birthing babies into the world with a husband by their side, they should not have to work 2 jobs up to the day of delivery. This lovely lady was carrying twins and also, per the photo that was uploaded with the message, has a toddler. It is not necessary or healthy to work so hard (physically) while ensuring his legacy.I don't consider a man to be standing in his healthy #masculinity if he agrees with his heavily pregnant wife working 2 jobs up to the day of her delivery. I can only assume she is going back to her two jobs with a few weeks of delivery, only to stay in the care of strangers until graduating from high school. Everything is turned upside down and there is so litt...

Family Legacy

Family Legacy: Generative families have vitality, creativity and the ability to continually reinvent themselves over generations. They are rare and unique entity that is capable of sustaining consistent control over a long period of time. They are important because unlike so many business ventures that focus on current profits, generative families can endure long-term with values that transcend profitability. They STAND for something, offering lessons that can be profitably learned not just by family business in first generation but also by non-family enterprises that want to operate with values beyond the bottom line. Generative families use their resources not just to sustain what they have but to create something new. The family extends its legacy - the family members' valu...

The Dinner Table For Family Empowerment

Many parents are asking themselves lots of questions regarding how to shepherd their children during such emotionally charged times. In my opinion and for our family, the dinner table is a stabilizer. It is the place where we reinforce family values, get to know one another and to provide a calm, balanced, energetically centering (or grounded) space for the family. Also, in an age of the 'world at our fingertips', where children have access to non-stop, virile, propaganda via social media, the dinner table is where, we as parents, take the reigns and redirect our attention and focus as a family. So, if you are feeling helpless and/or at a loss for how to handle the world outside your front door, why not start at the table. In order for this to be effective, I'd like to offer a few w...

Why Create Family Traditions?

Article By Amanda McGough, Ph.D. Around Halloween this year, my daughters (ages 4 and 9) started asking about baking Christmas cookies together! While this may be off-season, my daughters were ready to start planning our “Girls Cookie Baking Day.” Each year we spend one day baking a variety of cookies to share with family and friends for Christmas and this has quickly become one of their favorite family traditions and something we all look forward to. Family Traditions Family traditions can come in many forms and may be things that take very little time all the way to elaborate and time-intensive activities. They may occur daily or they may only happen occasionally or annually. They are more than just routines which are comprised of ordinary, everyday activities that invo...

A 5 Point Strategy for Creating And Building Family Wealth

Article by Linda Davis Taylor, author of The Business of Family: How to Stay Rich for Generations When you think of your family, mission statement and strategy are probably not the first terms that come to mind. But, as I explain in my new book, The Business of Family: How to Stay Rich for Generations, when families are organized with a business mindset, parents set up their kids for future success. I’ve found that families who truly understand wealth tend to invest in their families with as much discipline as they do with their business. Here are five strategies for your family to use to create and keep prosperity: 1. Come up with a family mission statement. Business leaders know that if they don't deliver on their promises, they'll lo...

Human Capital is Your Family Wealth

Article written by Will Bonner The real wealth in your family is in its human, not its financial, capital. This is one of the secrets of establishing a lasting legacy. Concentrate on your family… and the wealth will follow. Families that successfully preserve wealth for generations are always made up of individuals with financially valuable skills and abilities, held together by love and strong family bonds. That’s the kind of family you want to create, if you want your wealth to last beyond you. These families can have their money taken away, and make it all back. As my dad puts it, “You can have a fortune by accident. And you can have a family by accident. But you can’t hold onto a family fortune by accident.” You need to be smart about money. And you need to be smart abou...
