ODD and the Black ‘Community’

The other day I received a text message that was a message being shared/forwarded from person to person and it was a warning about a series of upcoming White Supremacist group initiations which would entail the sacrificing of black boys as part of their rituals. The purported sacrificing that was to take place was to be brutal, ruthless and chillingly murderous. The warning admonished black parents to watch over their children in the coming days and not to allow them to travel alone or engage with anyone that they did not know. The warning also exhorted women to be vigilant when out in public to be sure they don’t get kidnapped by rabid white supremacists.

This viral warning was professed to be written by the NAACP. The NAACP released a statement on July 5, 2020 denying having authored this warning. Please see below:

Washington, DC (July 4th, 2020) – In recent days, several social media platforms have posted statements purporting that the NAACP has received information about white nationalists groups initiations during the July 4 weekend.

The National NAACP has not released any such statement. While we take all matters of racial discrimination and racial hatred seriously, these statements are not from the NAACP.

These social media posts and press releases appear to be associated with a Huey P. Newton group, which has no affiliation to the NAACP.

All official NAACP statements can be found on our website at www.naacp.org or @naacp on official NAACP social media platforms.

When I received the text message, I was taken aback by how boldly the warning used psychological terror and emotional manipulation to disarm and frighten black people. The recipient of such a letter would naturally be alarmed and fearful. Without having read the NAACP released statement, I knew the warning was a hoax.

However, upon thinking about it further, I began incensed because I realized that this is what ‘black’ leadership and ‘white’ liberals have been doing to black people for decades. The object is to keep black people fearful, immobilized, in a constant state of victimization, in a constant state of feeling as if they are being held captive and hunted down as in the days of the slave narratives. It is a purposeful tactic to keep black people under-performing, disengaged from the larger society and in a state of powerless inferiority. You can not feel empowered and as if you are standing on your own two feet when you are simultaneously feeling powerlessly at the mercy of empowered, state sponsored white racists.

When I thought about it further, I realized that these psychological tactics would most definitely have outcomes in the group of people who have experienced this for any length of time. One outcome would be explained by Oppositional Defiant Disorder. When I first heard about it, I looked up the definition and corresponding symptoms and realized I have encountered this countless times when interacting with ‘the community’ as a whole. Below are symptoms as defined by the Mayo Clinic:

Sometimes it’s difficult to recognize the difference between a strong-willed or emotional child and one with oppositional defiant disorder. It’s normal to exhibit oppositional behavior at certain stages of a child’s development.

Signs of ODD generally begin during preschool years. Sometimes ODD may develop later, but almost always before the early teen years. These behaviors cause significant impairment with family, social activities, school and work.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association, lists criteria for diagnosing ODD. The DSM-5 criteria include emotional and behavioral symptoms that last at least six months.

Angry and irritable mood:

  • Often and easily loses temper
  • Is frequently touchy and easily annoyed by others
  • Is often angry and resentful

Argumentative and defiant behavior:

  • Often argues with adults or people in authority
  • Often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults’ requests or rules
  • Often deliberately annoys or upsets people
  • Often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior

  • Is often spiteful or vindictive
  • Has shown spiteful or vindictive behavior at least twice in the past six months

I imagine that the above symptoms would only have deepened during the year 2020, with the media led hysteria over supposed ‘race based’ killings which have been drummed up as black people being hunted down all over America. The media and politicians know that the ‘black community’ has been conditioned to respond like lab rats to external triggers because the conditioning has been happening over a series of decades and, to some extent, black people are able to trigger themselves at will.

In reading the writings of Black conservatives or watching their interviews, I find that they often speak about the inner transformation that had to take place within themselves. Their thinking had to be elevated through a concerted effort to control knee-jerk reaction to information. Having been trained into ODD, one has to learn to ingest contrary information in order to critically analyze it and allow its truth to filter in.

This process takes an enormous amount of will power and ability to go through such a difficult process alone. This is because, as many have seen in 2020, the political and social environment is such that one can not express conservative views without being lambasted, ostracized and pummeled with manipulative abuse.

If one is to save themselves, this uncovering and redefining of self must take place. In order to free oneself from the destructive hold of a dysfunctional group identity which glorifies ODD behaviors as group norm, or simply ‘Black Culture’, one must be willing to be reborn.
